When the club competition finally got under way in July West Coast had penciled in a home and away series against Buller for the Rundle Cup after the conclusion of the club season.
However, with the re-emergence of Covid-19 in the Auckland community in August and the rest of the country put at Level Two restrictions, the club final was postponed for a week and when played there were no spectators allowed.
The planned Rundle Cup series was abandoned and, for the first time since 1918, the union did not field a representative team.
Hokitika club Kiwi won the club championship for the fifth consecutive year, and have now won their last 46 matches, their last defeat being to Blaketown in the opening game of 2017.
