Sanctions for Ball Not Straight in the Lineout

This EDSLV was approved by the NZR Board this afternoon with immediate effect. You can treat this letter as authority given it will take some time to wash into the DSLV Handbook. NZR will also push out some digital comms to wider NZR community around the change – PUs may want to share these.

This EDSLV will apply to all levels of the Community Game.

Play on from not-straight lineout throws: If the non-throwing team does not lift a teammate to compete for a ball that is not thrown straight, then play shall continue. If the non-throwing team lifts a teammate to compete for the ball, a free kick is awarded to the non-throwing team.

The non-throwing team cannot be offered a scrum or a lineout.
