The under-16 Marist scrum dominates the St Edmund’s College’s scrum during their rugby match at Karoro Domain, on Sunday. St Edmund’s College, a Catholic secondary school based in Ipswich, near Brisbane, were on their annual tour to New Zealand. Marist first-five Reuben Mama knocked over two penalties in the first 40 minutes to take a 6-0 lead at
half-time before St Edmund’s came back with a converted try early in the second half.

Marist left it till the last five minutes to score the heartbreaker, Josh Costello breaching the defence and Mama booting the ball over the posts to seal a 13-7 victory. Manager Mark Costello said Marist’s backs had “a bit more class” and bigger forwards, but the Brisbane side’s plays were structured and their forwards “gutsy”.
