West Coast had another disastrous season, losing all its games to occupy bottom place on the third division table. Some of the results were close, however, and the team deserves full marks for effort. lt was a fairly young side which, if it can be kept together for the 1990 season, should show improvement, Despite the losses team spirit remained high.

The best of the backs were Tony O‘Regan, who continues to play well at first five-eighth, and centre Bruce Pearson. Mark Costello was a sound halfback under trying conditions. Gary Frost gave some encouraging displays in the loose where he had good support from Gary MacRae. John Pfeifer was West Coast’s best forward, scrummaging well and getting through a great deal of work in rucks and mauls. Winston Monk was an energetic leader who also did his share of work in the tight.

No West Coast players were called on above provincial level in 1989.
