New Head Coach for West Coast RFU Heartland Campaign Named

The 2013 West Coast Heartland side will offer up a new coaching mix for this years campaign, with last years assistant coach Jason Ryan being given the head coach role, with former Canterbury and West Coast representitive halfback Allan Lindsay signing on as assistant coach.

Ryan is very excited about the upcoming season and the chance to work with Lindsay for the upcoming campaign. “Curly (Lindsay) has played representitive rugby for Canterbury A at Halfback and had numerous years of coaching in Christchurch club rugby, and has also represented West Coast and understands what the pride and expectations are in wearing the Coast jersey. Curly brings a lot of coaching experience, and I am really looking forward to working with him this year”

“I believe that as Coaches, Managers, Players and the West Coast Union, if we all do the same as we did last year we will only get the same results. We want to build on what we achieved last year, work harder than ever and insure we plan and prepare bone deep so we can have the best campaign possible.”

West Coast RFU Chairman Colin Smith was also thrilled with both coaches signing on for the Heartland season. “It’s great for our Union particularly in terms of maintaining coaching continuity with Jason and being able to build on the excellent foundation he assisted in establishing last year, and the additional experience Alan will bring to what I consider will be a great coaching duo for us this year. ”

West Coast begin their Heartland Campaign with a mouth watering Rundle Cup fixture in Greymouth on August 24th.
